With an 8-megapixel front camera, the slim LTE-capable Huawei Ascend P7 is set to be a hit among selfie addicts.
The front-facing camera features 5P non-spherical lens and comes with a function for panoramic selfie shooting. On the back is a 13 MP 5P non-spherical lens camera.
The cameras are powered by Sony’s 4th generation BSI sensor, Image Signal Processor (ISP), IMAGESmart 2.0 software and f/2.0 aperture on the rear-facing camera.
The dedicated image processor is used to control functions such as autofocus, white balance and noise reduction.
“Selfies are great but with most phones capable of only a small frame, the context of the picture is ruined. This is why we see a lot of selfies that lack scenery. The Ascend P7 aims to bring good photography to selfies or groufies,” said Charles Wu, Consumer Business group head of Huawei Technologies Philippines.
Equipped with a “Voice Photo” function, the Ascend P7 allows users to simply tell the phone to take the picture. Furthermore, this feature takes photos that are accompanied by 10-second audio clips for users to upload photos with special audio expressions on a variety of social media platforms.
The cameras also lets users take a picture 1.2 seconds after double-clicking the down volume button when the device is locked.
Inside Huawei Technologies’ latest Android 4.4 smartphone is a quad-core processor running at 1.8GHz, 16GB of integrated storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card slot, and 2GB of RAM.
It has a 5-inch screen with a 1920 by 1080 pixel resolution.
The Ascend P7 boasts of high-speed 4G LTE coupled with dual antenna, which greatly improves signal reception. The combination, Huawei says, gives the unit capability to download at speeds of up to 150Mbps.
At 6.5 millimeters thick and 124 grams, the Ascend P7 is slimmer and lighter than the LG G3 and the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The Galaxy S5 is 8.1 millimeters thick and weighs 145 grams, while the LG G3 measures 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 millimeters and weighs 149 grams.
The Galaxy S5 and LG G3, however, have a more premium look and feel which partially makes them more expensive than the Ascend P7 which costs only Php20,990.
