Lenovo’s ThinkPad Helix combines the tablet and laptop in a single form factor

In response to the blurring of the line between work and personal space, Lenovo has rolled out its newest addition to the ThinkPad line, a premium convertible called the ThinkPad Helix.

ThinkPad Helix will be available in ThinkPad Exclusive Store and corporate channel partner retailers, with pricing at PhP78,990.

In response to the blurring of the line between work and personal space, Lenovo has rolled out its newest addition to the ThinkPad line, a premium convertible called the ThinkPad Helix.

Targeted at professionals and business executives, the Windows 8-based Helix merges the Ultrabook’s high performance with the Windows 8 tablet’s mobility.

Executives can use the Helix as a laptop to create content, “rip and flip” the screen to convert it into a tablet and even to a stand, for presentation purposes.

Based on the Cisco IBSG Horizons “BYOD and Virtualization” Survey Report, 41% of employees want the ability to use their favorite device anywhere, to have better control of their work experience.1 This “Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)” phenomenon is forcing Philippine companies to revamp their IT systems to appease their employees, especially with local smartphone shipment expected to reach 3.6 million according to IDC and tablet take-up rate expected to grow by 5% according to Nielsen,  in response to the high demand for touch-screen technology, mobility and flexible usage scenarios.

“The PC Plus era is in full swing. While the PC market still represents a US$200 billion opportunity, most of the new growth will be in PC Plus devices such as convertibles, tablets, and smart phones due to the convergence, consumerization and mobilization of technology. As the third largest maker of smart connected devices, Lenovo has been innovating new products like the ThinkPad Helix, to attack the PC Plus market and cement its PC Plus leadership,” said Vicky Agorrilla, Country General Manager, Lenovo Philippines.

Moving Forward in the PC Plus Era with the Helix
The 11.6-inch Helix stays true to the ThinkPad tradition with its black bento box design, ubiquitous red track point, and unquestioned reliability, and adds in some new elements- an on-board pen, full-size keyboard, and a new five-button clickpad that is  20% bigger than traditional ThinkPad clickpads- to ensure smooth and seamless navigation and interaction.

The Helix’s long battery life, large disk space, and superior multimedia functionalities make it an ideal companion for on-the-go business professionals who want absolute mobile freedom without having to scrimp on productivity. The Ultrabook convertible, which can separate from its base to become the thinnest full-function Intel 3rd generation Core tablet with vPro, combines portability with high performance.

The “rip and flip” screen, which allows users to flip the tablet 180° and snap it back into the base to transition to the Stand mode, instantly transforms the Helix into a presentation central, to facilitate discussions during business meetings. From here, users can also fold the screen down to use it as a tablet while keeping the base connected for added ports and connectivity.

“Lenovo has been releasing new touch-optimized convertible devices with the ability to flip, fold, twist, turn and separate to empower the Doers of today to work and play with  digital content like never before. These solutions address the unique needs of consumers, businesses and everyone in between- whether it’s working on documents on the go, surfing the web, or watching movies at home. It is proof of our commitment to the PC Plus era,” said Agorrilla.

ThinkPad Helix will be available in ThinkPad Exclusive Store and corporate channel partner retailers, with pricing at PhP78,990.
