Commuters can now enjoy riding a premium car model with a driver at affordable fares. This was made available with the launch of GrabCar+, a line service of GrabCar, a car-booking application that connects a passenger to a driver of a private vehicle, where users are allowed to book a high-end car for a fixed rate.
Natasha Bautista, acting general manager at GrabTaxi, said they got the idea of GrabCar+ to the many requests they are getting for more luxury car models their customers can use when going to special events or important meetings.
The new line offers more luxury car options, ensures customers travel safety, conveniently and in style. Fortuner, Montero, Camry, Hummer, and Tucson are some of the most requested car models and are available for GrabCar+ clients. For now, the app is intended for beta testing.
Bautista stresses that GrabCar+ does not charge per minute but implements rush hour rates as a temporary increase in fares. Rates during rush hours may go up to 1.5 or twice the regular rate.
GrabCar has a fleet of 60,000 registered vehicles across Southeast Asia. It has operations in six countries including Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Philippines is the first country to launch GrabCar+ app which now operates in Metro Manila.
GrabCar closely coordinates with the Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (LTFRB) regarding the LTFRB Memorandum Circular for Transportation Network Companies (TNC).
GrabCar+ has also the capability to issue an e-receipt for its riders.
Meanwhile, GrabCar is encouraging those who own premium car models to sign and become part of the GrabPeer community. Instead of putting your car in the garage and not in use most of the time, you can make the most of it by signing up as a GrabPeer.
A GrabPeer gets 80% of the total fare he gets for transporting a customer to his destination. Besides, he can also get surprise perks and incentives from the Grab team depending on the demand and supply.
To be a GrabPeer, one must registered by downloading the forms and list of requirements from www.grabcar.com and send it in to peers.mnl@grabcar.com, with the subject “GRABPEER APPLICATION”.
Once the application was verified, GrabCar will send an email and drop by to chat with the applicant, give the vehicle a look, and make sure everything’s okey.
To guide an applicant through the Peer process, GrabCar conducts briefings and accreditations every Wednesday, 9AM to 11AM, after which he can bid for all bookings.
