The Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office has tapped PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) to orient select schools in DepEd divisions in Dasmarinas City in the province of Cavite, Malabon City, and Aurora province on the opportunities offered by the Central Visayan Institute Foundation Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF-DLP).
The CVIF-DLP is a crisis-resilient teaching strategy which helps develop independent learners with the help of the CVIF DLP Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) that break down complex concepts into simple lessons that students can easily follow. This method works particularly well with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education where a strong familiarity with foundational ideas is crucial to appreciate more advanced topics.
The program’s ambassadors from different regions in the Philippines shared different experiences in implementing DLP at their schools. They also showcased the post-implementation improvements among students across different learning competencies.
As long-time partners of the DepEd, PLDT and Smart had earlier reiterated their support to the agency’s key priorities under Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara. The DepEd’s five-point agenda prioritizes boosting learners’ foundational skills in reading, math and science to improve Filipino students’ performance in international large-scale assessments, professional development of teachers, employing digital innovations to augment existing teaching strategies, ensuring senior high school graduates are ready for employment, and improving educational infrastructures and resources.
