VITRO Inc. and PLDT Enterprise propel digital resilience in public sector

“Data classification is critical in managing the personal information of Filipinos. By categorizing data based on its sensitivities, we can ensure that the right measures are in place to protect it. VITRO Inc., the data center arm of the PLDT Group and a subsidiary of ePLDT, together with PLDT Enterprise, the corporate business division of the PLDT group, recently hosted a VITRO Nexus Forum aimed at helping the Philippine public sector enhance their data management systems to accelerate a secure digital transformation.

Themed “Future-Ready Philippines: A Blueprint for Digital Resilience & Disaster Recovery,” the forum gathered key representatives from National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Units (LGUs) to discuss how efficient data management systems can modernize government operations, provide greater efficiency in public services delivery, strengthen disaster recovery efforts, and ensure a digitally secure Philippines.

The forum also highlighted the best practices for data classification to prevent data breaches and protect the nation’s digital assets. By properly classifying data as non-sensitive, sensitive, and highly sensitive data, NGAs and LGUs can better manage the information they handle and keep it safe especially if they use secure, in-country cloud platforms or data center facilities.

Through effective classification of non-sensitive, sensitive, and highly sensitive data, NGAs and LGUs can implement strategies to better manage the information they process. This ensures that the appropriate digital infrastructure is in place, supporting a seamless and efficient public service delivery and digitalization efforts.

The forum also underscored that digital infrastructure is the foundation of the country’s digital transformation. It provides the stable and secure platforms needed for various public sector technologies.
