Canon Marketing (Phils.) Inc. has announced it is partnering with local print service providers to offer its managed print services to companies who want to cut costs and focus on their competencies. The company also announced an offering that bundles a new color production cut-sheet press with other services and products, such as a large format printer.

There is a strong demand for managed print and document services (MPDS) in the country. Businesses are especially interested in MPDS because it makes significant impact on cost reduction via infrastructure optimization. It also reduces energy and print-related costs.

“Non-core tasks distract the productivity of businesses and take up a lot of resources,” said Lim Kok Hin, CEO and president of Canon Marketing (Phils.) Inc. In a meeting with the press recently, Lim unveiled that the Canon Business Service unit is partnering with local print service providers to provide offsite or onsite services to companies who want to outsource their printing requirements.

The service, Lim said, can include mailing–for example, printed statements–to customers. Lim assures that private data, such as customer information, will be kept confidential and secure under a Service Level Agreement (SLA).

Canon gained the capability to offer managed print services when it bought Dutch printer manufacturer Océ in 2010. The combination of the two companies has enabled Canon to offer enterprise printing solutions and business services for document process outsourcing.

Color production cut-sheet press

Canon also announced a new color production cut-sheet press, the imagePRESS C800 series as part of their continued efforts to empower print service providers (PSPs) to cater to the print industry’s ever-evolving needs.

The imagePRESS C800 is capable of handling a wide variety of media, such as heavyweight coated stock and envelopes. This is attributed to the Elastic Intermediate Transfer Belt, which allows it to produce extensive applications on uneven media, such as textured or recycled media.

The imagePRESS C800 series utilizes a 32 beam Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) unit with multi-exposure technology to deliver vivid detail and resolution of up to 2,400 x 2,400 dpi.

The imagePRESS C800 series is capable of achieving high production speeds of up to 80 impressions per minute (ipm) across varying types of media, and achieve the fastest possible speed on heavy stock up to 220 grams per square metre (gsm) without compromising print quality.

When handling heavy weight media of up to 300 gsm, the imagePRESS C800 series can produce duplex print jobs with highly accurate front to back registration without any manual intervention or impact on print room productivity.

The device also features a new multi-drawer paper deck with three new technologies, which prevents misfeeds, even with coated stock. For new materials within the system, a new separation control system and a system that blows air at varying speeds [depending on the weight of the paper] eliminates paper jams to maximize device up-time.

The imagePRESS C800 series features three innovative workflows to accommodate the different needs of in-house print and Graphic Arts environments. The Canon imagePRESS Printer Kit B1 allows for the easy production of high-quality print jobs.  The PRISMAsync iPR C800 series A1 provides a single point of control for the entire production workflow with easy, intuitive operation and efficient task splitting. The imagePRESS Server F200 and imagePRESS Server G100, two new digital front ends (DFEs) offer faster processing, unsurpassed image quality and easy-to-use, automated workflows.

“We are confident that the new imagePRESS C800 series will be an invaluable asset to the print services industry.  This innovative technology will help businesses to deliver nothing short of the best quality print services at maximum productivity and efficiency,” said Jojo Bolima, Senior Director for Business Imaging Solutions & Regional Operations of Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc.

Large-format inkjet printers

Canon also introduced two new imagePROGRAF large-format inkjet printers to the Philippine market—the 6-color 24-inch iPF6410SE and 44-inch iPF8410SE.

Canon says the iPF6410SE and iPF8410SE both offer high-quality printing with a low Total Cost of Ownership. Additionally, the iPF6410SE features a compact body design facilitating installation in areas with limited space, such as retail outlets and service-sector businesses.

This new series of imagePROGRAF printers supports a wide variety of print media and enables users to produce vibrant posters through enhanced basic performance supporting the creation of posters and other point of purchase materials. With either the iPF6410SE or the iPF8410SE, you are sure to produce vivid eye-catching posters for your business, making you attract more customers and ultimately increase sales.

A six-color LUCIA EX pigment system is available on both printers. The inks are all pigment-based, making it exceptional for water resistance and color fastness. With the iPF6410SE and the iPF8410SE, users can expect quality and productivity as the printers have two ink tank sizes to make the process swifter. Printing can also continue even if the tank runs out of ink due to the sub-ink tanks installed, and this also allows the main ink tanks to be replaced even when printing.

The iPF6410SE comes bundled with a free copy of Canon’s PosterArtist Lite software, which allows easy poster creation in just four steps. The PosterArtist Lite comes with features such as the image correction function, which lets users correct their image colors swiftly, as well as cut out selected areas of an image.

The two printers also come with a Print Plug-In for Office, which allows the users to design, preview, and print from Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

To further improve its offering for print service providers, Canon is bundling the imagePRESS C800 with a 6-Color series large format printer (imagePROGRAF) that takes up less space. Also included in the bundle are options for business enhancement tools, training vouchers, a Mac platform, a network video security system for business site security, a click-charge rebate plan, and a customer portal.
