Scania, a Swedish-owned assembler of Scania trucks and buses, unveiled the newest Scania Sleeper Bus with locally-built body, and features designed to meet the growing demands of the riding public.
The first two units of Scania Sleeper Bus was handed over by the bus maker to its new partner, GV Florida Transport, Inc., one of the major bus operators in Northern Philippines, which was the first bus company to introduce Scania Sleeper Bus in the market.
These two Sleeper buses are part of the initial 23 units of Scania K360 Coach Bus GV Florida Transport purchased from Scania, where four of which are in the Sleeper Bus configuration, and the rest are a combination of Deluxe and Super Deluxe.
According to Leilani Lim Tan, vice president at Scania, they are blessed to have another partner this year at the time they are celebrating Scania’s 10th anniversary. “We’re very happy to welcome the GV Florida Transport family to the Scania family. As our partner, we promise to give the support that we can. It is our wish that we grow together, we learn from each other and we succeed together. I hope that the few units that we see here would not be the last,” she said.
The Scania Sleeper Bus boasts of important features that will help satisfy the riding public in their journey. The bus has 23 spacious and comfortable Executive Sleeper Beds equipped with headrest pillow. It is WiFi-equipped and has USB Charger Ports per seat. Apart from these, it also has an individual Bus Pad or Tablet with headphones so riders can watch movies, listen to music or play games.
Other features of Scania Sleeper Bus include complimentary snack and beverage, dual cup holders, complimentary blankets, shoe bag, well-maintained on-board restroom, individual aisle curtain, individual dual-color light per seat, pneumatic-powered folding stairs, and wide aisle.
There are also features that Sleeper Bus helps meet the demands of bus operators such as fuel efficiency, safety systems, excellent uptime, cruise control, and CCTV cameras and dashcam.
Scania Sleeper Bus uses the 360 horsepower (direct injection) engine technology to achieve fuel efficiency. It also uses the original Scania transmission, not a third-party transmission. As a Euro 5 emission compliant, the bus helps reduce the concentration of harmful environmental emissions, and uses drivers that are well-trained by Scania.
The bus is equipped with a Fleet Management System (FMS), an application that provides connected services for both the operators and drivers. Through FMS, operators can identify and use real-time information such as vehicle data, fuel consumption, fleet position, and driver performance that are useful to enhance productivity while reducing costs. It can also detect mechanical and electrical errors remotely informing Scania’s professional technicians which parts and tools to bring for faster repair in case of breakdowns on the road.
The Scania Sleeper Bus is also equipped with the standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP) designed to work on wet or slippery roads, where under- or over-steering often occurs, and on dry roads, where the main risk is a rollover resulting from excessive speed or adverse camber on bends. Besides, it also has secondary brakes (retarder and exhaust brakes), hill hold, cruise control, driving modes (economy, standard, and power mode 5), Scaniaopticruise (semi-automatic gearbox), and air suspension.
Scania also offers after sales services, 24/7 service assistance, and service contract package with FMS and Driver Training programs.
