PLDT, Smart bolster Baguio digitalization

In a courtesy visit with City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, PLDT and Smart executives pledged to expand their network across the city to elevate customer experience and better support the connectivity needs of Baguio local government, business enterprises, residents and tourists.

The Philippines’ leading integrated telco network PLDT Inc (PLDT) and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc (Smart) have reinforced their commitment to support Baguio City’s digitalization through the continued enhancement of the Group’s network facilities in the Summer Capital of the Philippines.

In a courtesy visit with City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, PLDT and Smart executives pledged to expand their network across the city to elevate customer experience and better support the connectivity needs of Baguio local government, business enterprises, residents and tourists.

“Together we will work toward making Baguio a more connected, efficient place to live, to work and to visit,” said Mayor Magalong at the recent ceremonial signing of the partnership between Baguio City and common tower company Phil-Tower Consortium, Inc., which was supported by PLDT and Smart.

“Enhanced communication networks will support our local businesses, improve our emergency response and provide our citizens with better access to information and services,” added Magalong. “We thank our telco partners for their unwavering support.”

“We are happy to work hand-in-hand with our government partners in delivering top-tier products and services to our customers, boosting businesses and the local economy, and uplifting the lives of our fellow Filipinos,” said Alex O. Caeg, Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart, who led the courtesy visit with the Baguio City Mayor alongside other PLDT and Smart leaders.

“Our priority is to ensure that together with Mayor Magalong, we are able to deliver leveled-up customer experience, build meaningful digital connections across Baguio, and be always ready to support the City’s initiatives,” Caeg added.

PLDT Group’s support for the city is aligned with the Group’s drive to empower communities and enable the creation of smart cities through meaningful innovation, a fundamental part of its overall support for the government’s digitalization push. It also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) particularly on SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
