ePLDT becomes premium partner of Alibaba Cloud

With the expanded multi-cloud portfolio, including Alibaba Cloud, ePLDT becomes more equipped to better support its enterprise and public service customers in their digital transformation.

ePLDT, the ICT subsidiary of PLDT, is now Alibaba Cloud’s Premium Partner in the country in a move demonstrating its commitment to serving the digital needs of local enterprises through leading cloud solutions.

With the expanded multi-cloud portfolio, including Alibaba Cloud, ePLDT becomes more equipped to better support its enterprise and public service customers in their digital transformation.

By integrating PLDT Group’s robust telecommunication and digital infrastructure with Alibaba Cloud’s proven technologies, the partnership aims to deliver cloud solutions with a focus on cloud computing, storage, and security to support local enterprises. For instance, Alibaba Cloud’s hybrid backup recovery and hybrid disaster recovery provide an additional layer of assurance for customers enhancing their security stance as their data resides in the cloud.

As the leading public cloud service provider in Asia Pacific, Alibaba Cloud launched a local data center in the Philippines in 2021. It offers proven cloud technologies, including elastic compute services, database storage and back-up, disaster recovery, security, and machine learning and data analytics capabilities.

“This alliance with Alibaba Cloud is a substantial step towards helping more local enterprises in their digital transformation journey,” said Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO, Inc. “As we continue to help companies navigate through the complexities of technology, we also pave the way for a digitally transformed Philippines.”

The partnership also aims to support the growing interest of local enterprises in adopting cloud technology. This was based on an Alibaba Cloud commissioned survey unveiled in 2023  where they found that 85% of Philippine businesses plan to fully migrate to the cloud within two years. Over 90% say they will increase cloud investments in 2023 driven by the rapid growth of the local data center market and the government’s steadfast plan for digitalization.

“Alibaba Cloud has always been committed to empowering local enterprises wherever we operate,” said Allen Guo, General Manager for the Philippines, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “Together with PLDT Enterprise, ePLDT, we aim to support Philippine businesses with proven and trustworthy cloud solutions that meet their digitalization goals.”

ePLDT is Alibaba Cloud’s first Premium Partner in the Philippines for 2024. As Alibaba Cloud continues to expand its footprint in the country, the PLDT Group stands ready to support its growth by providing connectivity and digital infrastructure needs.

“This partnership is a testament to PLDT’s ability to provide our enterprise customers with end-to-end business solutions that span connectivity and digital infrastructure to network, cloud, and data center offerings,” said Jojo Gendrano, SVP & Head of Enterprise Business Group at PLDT and Smart. “PLDT is always prepared to support enterprises in their digital pivot, helping them achieve their desired business outcomes. Together, we aim to support our collective vision with both public and private sectors, contributing to the advancement of the country’s digital thrust.”
