Converge provides free connectivity, learning tablets to Aeta nursery students

The very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite that was installed in the school was provided by ComClark Network and Technology Corp., which is not only for the online learning needs of the school but also for the different online transactions of the beneficiaries.

The parent firm of leading fiber broadband and technology solutions provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. –  ComClark Network and Technology Corp. –  in collaboration with the Clark Development Corp. (CDC), has powered up with satellite broadband connectivity the nursery school of the Aeta community in Bamban, Tarlac.

The very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite that was installed in the school was provided by ComClark Network and Technology Corp., which is not only for the online learning needs of the school but also for the different online transactions of the beneficiaries.

Converge, represented by its Board Chairman Jose de Jesus, distributed learning tablets to the over 20 young students of the CDC-Bloomberry-OB Family Care Center in Brgy. San Vicente recently. This initiative was in line with CDC’s Project Pagsasarili which aims to provide access to education to its nearby Indigenous Peoples (IPs) communities near Clark City.

“Our battle cry at Converge is to leave no one behind. Our efforts ensure that our students will have the opportunity to develop their digital skills, at the same time, give them the necessary tools to enrich their online learning experiences,” said de Jesus who was also former CDC Chairman and project founder.

“From the words of our co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy, internet access is no longer a privilege but a right of everyone. We believe that with fast and reliable connectivity, we could break down barriers that hinder those in rural communities to also succeed and improve their lives,” said Converge Government Affairs Head Chito T. Salud.

Meanwhile, CDC Assistant Vice President for External Affairs Department Rommel Narciso said that CDC, under its Pagsasarili program, has more initiatives in the pipeline to empower IP communities with the help of its partner organizations such as Converge.

In 2019, CDC launched Project Pagsasarili, in partnership with OB Montessori, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to deliver the early childhood and adult learning needs of IP communities around Clark Freeport.

Last year, Converge also extended 100 units of learning tablets and a minimum of 100 Mbps of free fiber connectivity at Pagsasarili Centers in Marcos Village and Sitio Calapi in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

By extending its support to the program, Converge reinforces its sustainability commitment to empower communities, making a positive impact to help build a better future for Filipinos.
