Juicy Bits has announced that the new Halftone 2 app for iPad, an Apple Editors’ Choice, has added a 3D feature that makes comics jump out of the page. The 3D comics can be viewed with standard red and cyan anaglyph glasses and shared on services like Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. The update is now available on the App Store.
The new 3D feature is automatic, and no additional configuration is required from users. Halftone 2 takes advantage of existing depth information to create left- and right-eye perspectives that are blended to produce the final output. For more advanced users, Halftone 2 provides six configurable blending methods taken directly from Juicy Bits popular 3D Camera and 3D Camera Studio apps.
“Halftone 2 launched less than two weeks ago, and it’s already been downloaded nearly 250,000 times,” says Mike Swanson, founder of Juicy Bits. “Customers have asked for more graphics, stamps, and caption styles in the free version, and we’ve listened. This update adds new page layouts, an additional balloon shape, more stamps, and another paper style. It definitely increases the capability of the free version.”
The update also adds a square page layout and the ability to share images with the Instagram app.
Juicy Bits has also released a series of short Halftone 2 tutorial videos on its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Halftone2).
Halftone 2 is available for free on the App Store for iPad 2 (or later). Additional graphics, fonts, and tools are available via in-app purchase.
