Globe’s aggressive site builds and efforts to migrate customers nationwide from 3G to 4G LTE has significantly improved network experience, narrowing the gap between Globe vis a vis competition. That said, the overall mobile and data landscape remains highly competitive especially with new players in the industry.
Based on the April 2021 report of international analyst firm, Opensignal, Globe’s performance in 4G Availability, Download Speed Experience, and Video Experience has been consistently improving. In terms of 4G Availability, Globe customers have seen the most improvement with 4G Availability score rising by 2.2 percentage points (PPTs) to 82.6%, causing Smart’s lead to drop by nearly 30% from 5 percentage points to 3.6 PPTs.
Globe’s Video Experience score also advanced by an impressive 15.4 point improvement, reducing Smart’s lead by more than half compared to the last report. The report also noted the company’s Download Speed Experience improvement of 16.4% from 7.4 Mbps to 8.6 Mbps.
“Our continuously improving performance in mobile and data services shows our strong commitment to deliver on our promise of a #1stWorldNetwork. The steady improvements significantly reduced the gaps in speed such that, from a user standpoint it is hardly noticeable. More than speed, customers want consistent, reliable connectivity that comes with an enriching digital experience,” shared Ernest Cu, Globe President and Chief Executive Officer.
