The AWS Outposts is available as a 42U industry standard rack that can scale from 1 to 96 racks to create pools of compute and storage capacity. The rack is fully assembled and installed by AWS by simply plugged into power and network.

Amazon Web Services launched in the Philippines the AWS Outposts, a set of physical hardware and software that can be deployed on the ground in a customer’s premise that is fully managed, monitored and operated by AWS for a consistent hybrid cloud experience.

The AWS Outposts is available as a 42U industry standard rack that can scale from 1 to 96 racks to create pools of compute and storage capacity. The rack is fully assembled and installed by AWS by simply plugged into power and network. It has a centralized redundant power conversion unit and DC distribution system for higher reliability, energy efficiency, and easier serviceability.

Outposts is designed and built on AWS Nitro System technologies. “The Nitro System is a set of dedicated hardware and lightweight hypervisor that are built into our architecture on the infrastructure side to provide the needed security considerations. With Nitro System, our customers can do faster innovation, and can enhance security for a better performance, according to Paul Chen, head, Solutions Architecture, ASEAN at Amazon Web Services.

Chen also said Outposts has a single pane of management in the cloud that provides the same APIs and tools as in AWS Regions.

Outposts is available in two variants: the Native AWS with AWS APIs, services, and features as in the AWS Cloud; and VMware Cloud on AWS with VMware APIs and services to leverage existing skills, automation and governance policies. Outposts is ideal for workloads that require low latency access to on-premises systems, data processing, and migration of applications.

Meanwhile, AWS customers and partners welcome the availability of AWS Outposts in the Philippines. Globe Telecom, an AWS consulting partner in the Philippines, views AWS Outposts as an important catalyst in their mission to help digitally transform the country. Another AWS partner is Mynt, a fintech startup in the Philippines, which welcomes AWS Outposts as an important partner in Mynt’s cloud strategy.
