Globe’s home broadband business sustained its momentum with a 19% revenue growth reaching PHP 12.5 billion from PHP 10.6 billion last year to become the market leader in subscriber share.
The company’s home broadband subscriber base improved by 58% compared to H1 of 2019, with over 2.9 million subscribers.
As of the first semester of 2020, Home Prepaid WiFi (HPW) data traffic soared to 182 petabytes from 45 petabytes in the same period of 2019. This represents a 304% increase compared to the same period in 2019, a remarkable feat amidst a pandemic.
“Our Globe At Home business truly made remarkable gains this first half. We are happy with the results and will continue to push forward to serve the needs of customers doing work from home, distance learning and those that are transforming their businesses to digital means, ” said Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO.
To sustain these efforts, Globe is bent on boosting its network expansion in many provinces all over the country amid travel restrictions and varying degrees of community quarantines. The company has invested a total of PHP 20.9 billion for its network in the first half of the year, 10% higher than last year.
“We have shown resilience and will continue to remain steadfast even with this pandemic. Our network builds this third quarter will expand our capability to serve and ensure that our customers remain connected and updated. We expect more opportunities for the rest of the year as demand for internet connectivity and cloud solutions continue to grow with more companies adapting to the new normal,” Cu added.
Globe launched its 5G services for its Globe At Home customers in 2019, the first mobile operator to do so in Southeast Asia.
