Big Data analytics can help businesses gain competitive advantage and make the best decisions, according to Ella Mae Ortega, country manager of Teradata, an analytics data platform and consulting services provider.
Teradata’s suite of analytic data platforms consists of the Teradata Unified Data Architecture, which brings together Teradata, Teradata Aster and Hadoop technology, as well as best-of-breed partner tools, to create a cohesive architecture.
“By integrating all of these applications, we are driving the adoption of Big Data,” said Ortega.
The Teradata Aster Discovery Platform features the patented Teradata Aster SQL-MapReduce framework, pre-packaged analytic modules, and processing engines – SQL, MapReduce, statistics and graphs – designed to accelerate insights from large amounts of raw data and data platform software that integrates open source Apache Hadoop with other enterprise systems to give users real-time access to data stored in Hadoop.
Teradata also has data-driven marketing tools which help strengthen loyalty of clients and boost earnings. Teradata defines data-driven marketing as the combination of collecting and connecting large amounts of data, rapidly analyzing it and gaining insights, and then bringing those insights to market via marketing interactions tailored to what’s relevant for each customer.
“Most companies are looking at these solutions to gain (more) competitive edge, and to understand and know more about their customers,” notes Ortega. “[With our solutions] our customers will be aware and have as much information they can have, make better value propositions, and empower them to compete and win the market.”
Teradata’s goal is to deliver growth by expanding into new sectors while continuing to help their existing and new customers uncover valuable insights from vast volumes of data.
In the Philippines, Teradata’s customers consist of giant telecommunications companies such as Globe Telecom and Smart Communications, transport firm Philippine Airlines and also has clients in the banking and retail sectors.
