Bosch, a global supplier of technology and services, recently unveiled the world’s largest, printed wall mural in Quezon City. The road safety themed artwork underscores the company’s long-standing advocacy for road and vehicle safety, which was created together with Estonian startup ‘Robot Muralist’.
Bosch transformed the high building wall in Quezon City into a one-of-a-kind urban wall art depicting key figures of the country’s mobility landscape.
The initiative from Bosch aims to drive the importance of road and vehicle safety to the public, through a wall art which captures the public’s curiosity offline and gets them learning and sharing online.
“For Bosch, every traffic-related death is one too many,” Richard Walker, Managing Director of Bosch Philippines said, “The future of mobility is accident-free – on the roads and in vehicles”.
Realizing the importance of innovative resources that create meaningful impact, Walker added that “the map of numbers mural that Bosch and Robot Muralist have collaborated on symbolizes how humans and machines can work together in making safe mobility a reality – through responsible behavior and reliable technology.”
According to the World Health Organization, the number of traffic-related fatalities in the Philippines have continued to rise over the years, with an estimate of more than 12,000 deaths in 2016. Every year, the lives of approximately 1.35 million people worldwide are cut short due to road traffic accidents, with the younger demographics aged 5 to 29 the most vulnerable.
Bosch believes that raising awareness on road safety is a way to contribute to nation-building. “It takes a community to pave roads for future generations. In achieving a truly safe traffic environment, the responsibility must not only be imposed on the public sector, but on all of us – the motorists, pedestrians, and commuters,” said Walker.
Since 2014, Bosch has been working closely with Philippines’ Department of Transportation (DOTr) in developing plans to increase road safety standards in the country.
In 2017, Bosch collaborated with the DOTr in advising the publication of the Philippine Road Safety Action Plan (PRSAP). Under the PRSAP, the government recommends that new vehicles consider usage of the most up to date vehicle safety technologies.
Bosch’s innovative wall painting aims to augment this effort to reach larger audiences. “True to our company’s brand core “Invented for life”, we are passionate about improving the lives of the Filipino community. Bosch develops countless safety technologies that can help improve road safety. In this project we were able to raise awareness for an important topic while at the same time also beautifying our home city, by adding some color,” concluded Walker.
The wall painting can be viewed on CTK Building, 70 N. Roxas St, Santa Mesa Heights, Quezon City, 1114 Metro Manila, Philippines.
