The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is bringing the world’s most most accurate weather forecasts to the Samsung Weather experience for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 smartphones. Customers who purchase these smartphones will have access to new features in the Samsung Weather app, including government-issued weather alerts, radar maps, and videos from The Weather Channel award-winning editorial team.
Having timely, accurate weather data can be one of the most crucial decision-making tools for consumers and businesses. Checking the weather is a daily activity for people around the world and one of the most common activities on mobile devices. Galaxy owners use Samsung Weather, powered by The Weather Channel, to help them plan.
For the first time, these users will have access to government-issued weather alerts from the smartphone’s widget in the home screen. Samsung Weather also allows users to connect to The Weather Channel mobile web site, weather.com, for additional access to real-time radar maps, giving users hours of seamless, high-resolution and past-to-future radar data, with hyperlocal current weather conditions right at their fingertips.
“Weather impacts every person on the planet, so we’re focused on empowering new possibilities of decision making, enabled by billions of data sources, cloud, and AI,” said Cameron Clayton, general manager of IBM’s Watson Media and Weather. “Our longstanding partnership with Samsung allows us to keep hundreds of millions of people informed – whether that’s an individual in the path of a storm or a family simply planning their day.”
The Weather Company continues to be the default weather data provider on select Samsung smartphones. The Weather Company has powered Samsung Weather apps across smartphones since the launch of the Galaxy S8.
