Lenovo has taken its partnership with the US-based AMD to the next level with the launch in the Philippines market of a new lineup of laptops that are powered by AMD Ryzen processors.
Michael Ngan, country general manager at Lenovo Philippines, mentioned that their partnership with AMD has been there ever since and have decided to take it to the next level thus the start of seeing a lot of products on AMD that are available across consumers and commercial portfolio. “I see AMD as a strong ally as partner and we see the future with AMD and I think AMD can help us solidify our No. 1 position in the market,” he said.
The Ryzen range of processors with multi-core setup was released by AMD last year. Having the power of two or more cores in a single chip, it allows Ryzen processors to run intensive programs involved in digital content creation, 3D rendering, gaming and streaming, CAD work, and more.
These processors feature a simultaneous multithreading (SMT) where the processor splits each of its physical cores into virtual cores known as threads to increase performance and allow each core to run two instruction streams at once. SMT allows various operations to be broken down into smaller parts and have those processes carried out more efficiently.
According to Dustin Beadle, APJ sales lead, Lenovo Global Account at AMD, they have spent about four years in building the right architecture and took more time to bring the products in the market with their partners.
Beadle adds that everything leverages on the graphics side of the processor. “Our product is very strong with our core performance in terms of everyday’s productivity and graphics presentation runs really well.”
