Wireless solutions provider Linksys launched in the Philippines the first MU-MIMO (Multi-User, Multiple Input, Multiple Output)–enabled Wireless AC router, the Max-Stream AC2600 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router (EA8500), and the Wireless Max-Stream AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Wi-Fi Router (EA7500).
The Linksys Max-Stream EA8500 wireless router leverages the 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO technology, which ensures uninterrupted Wi-Fi connectivity to all devices and functions as if multiple devices have their own dedicated router.
The router incorporates Qualcomm MU | EFX MU-MIMO technology which provides up to three times faster speeds compared with the current Wi-Fi. The combined 2.53Gbps Wi-Fi speeds (up to 1733Mbps for 5GHz and 800Mbps for 2.4GHz) helps minimize buffering and enable faster downloads. 1.4GHz dual-core CPU and four Gigabit ports provide speeds for wired gaming. Devices can be attached to its USB 3.0 port and a combo USB 2.0/SATA port for personal cloud content streaming or to share data across their network. It has four removable antennaes which are adjustable, and it is enabled by beamforming technology that concentrates the Wi-Fi signal to each device. MU-MIMO will not work if there’s no beamforming.
The Linksys Max-Stream EA7500 wireless router, on the other hand, leverages MU-MIMO functionality, which makes Wi-Fi networks deliver high bandwidth 4K streams to multiple devices at the same time. Like EA8500 router, the EA7500 is also enabled by the 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO technology for 4K high-definition TV streaming.
The EA7500 router, which provides speeds of up to 1.9Gbps, also offers Smart technology.
Both Linksys Max-Stream EA8500 and Max-Stream EA7500 are available at retailers including Complink, Octagon Computer Superstore, PC Worx, Silicon Valley, Villman Computers, and Thinking Tools. The EA8500 is sold at an MSRP of P13,990 while the EA7500 can be bought at an MSRP of P10,590.
