Online channels are important in building the image of companies as places where jobseekers aspire to work for, according to job employment site JobStreet.com.
This was emphasized in the Top Companies Report released by JobStreet.com where majority of respondents said they sourced information about their desired employers from digital channels thru social media, and news portals as well as in jobs/company web sites.
At a press conference to announce the Top 10 most aspired companies of jobseekers, Philip Gioca, Country Manager at JobStreet.com, said, “JobStreet.com knows that employer branding has become more critical than ever in the war for talent. That’s why we give employers a free platform to present their employer brand through our Company Profile with Ratings and Reviews. We encourage them to give candidates a compelling reason to join their company through Why Join Us, and to engage their employers through Ratings and Reviews.”
The Top Companies Report was the result of a series of surveys and interviews which were conducted from May to July this year, and participated in by over 14,000 JobStreet.com members from different position levels (predominantly fresh graduates and junior executives) and representing a diverse mix of specializations.
The report is aimed to provide stakeholders in the labor market innovative services for companies not only to find talents but build employee value proposition, and in the process, attract the best talents in the job market.
Two IT companies were included in this year’s list of top 10 companies jobseekers aspire to work for and these are Accenture, a business process outsourcing firm, which ranked third; and search engine Google Philippines, which took the eighth place.
From fifth placer last year, Accenture jumped to third slot where company perks and benefits, work environment, and company reputation are factors employees loved most about the company.
An employee of Accenture says, “I believe in the company’s core value of client creation and developing the best people. I know that we take care of our client and by always thinking of ways to make processes more efficient for cause, thus creating value for the client’s money.”
A new entrant in the Top 10, Google Philippines moved up from 12th to eighth position where employees credited company reputation, work environment, and work culture as reasons why they consider the company a better place to work with.
“I feel grateful for the opportunity to work in a great company, to work with an evolving group of people and to make an impact to our country,” says a Google Philippines employee.
Other companies that made it to the Top 10 most aspired companies include San Miguel Corporation, which occupied the top position, followed by Nestle Philippines; BDO Unibank came in fourth while Ayala Corporation was fifth. Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines placed sixth; SM Investments Corporation, seventh; Procter & Gamble Philippines, ninth; and ABS-CBN Corporation, tenth.
Salary, in general, is the most important factor in employer preference of jobseekers this year. Other factors Filipino job applicants look for in a company to work for are: perks and benefits; trainings and development programs; promotion/career development; and company reputation.
These preferences however, vary depending on rank of jobseekers. For fresh graduates, they prefer trainings and development programs, promotion and career development, basic salary, company values, and perks and benefits.
Junior executives or supervisors look for competitive salary, perks and benefits, trainings and development programs, career growth, and company reputation. Those in the managerial level are on the lookout for firms with good reputation that provide better salary, and perks and benefits.
“We could see a certain influence in terms of what the new employees prefer so they look more on the career development in terms of helping them into their career path. As you progressed into the career, you are looking at company reputation as to represent a company that is synonymous or align to values you are looking for. Company reputation is important,” said Gioco.
