Since its launch for Android and iOS in August 2014, Clash of Kings has hit a milestone, placing it among a rare strata of popular games. The game is now on more than 100 million devices and growing, the game’s developer, ELEX, announced. The number includes download figures from Google’s Play Store, Amazon’s Appstore and Apple’s App Store.
Clash of Kings took about 16 months to reach this figure with the Android version launching in August 2014 and the iOS version hitting the market this year in January 2015.
According to Peng Yue, chief producer at ELEX, “the most important thing is that Clash of Kings works on most of platforms, so it can deliver a consistent experience on every device on every platform. A gamer can move seamlessly from phone to tablet to computer, which helps us to keep our users engaged for longer. More platforms lead to bigger audience leads to more downloads lead to more revenue. ”
As a free-to-play game, Clash of Kings relies on microtransactions to make money. The game has managed to top charts in over 100 countries, and is one of the most downloaded games across iOS and Android devices around the world.
