Mober Technology introduced Mober, a Filipino-owned on-demand delivery service mobile app that addresses the logistics needs of startups or small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and individuals that cannot afford to purchase a service vehicle, hire a driver and maintain the vehicle.

Through Mober, companies and individuals can book a vehicle through the app to have their goods and even pets picked up and delivered by the nearest available van to their designated destinations around Metro Manila.

“It is an ambitious transportation service marketplace for goods with a B2B and C2C focus. We serve our customers through the app with our 24-hour delivery reservations depending on the availability of drivers and delivery vehicles,” said Adrian P. Marin, marketing head at Mober Technology.

The app, which has Book Now and Book Later features, can be downloaded at Google Play and App Store.

To use the Mober app, a user has to book a van and select pick-up point and destinations. Select the vehicle type and key-in the destination, as well as see details such as minimum fare, price per kilometer and price per minute for each trip. Once the booking is confirmed, a user can track the van live on the app. Upon drop off, sender receives a confirmation of delivery.

Started in July this year, the Mober delivery services are currently only available in Metro Manila. There are already plans to expand the services to include places outside the National Capital Region, such as Metro Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo and Davao.

Marin said the arrival time for the goods depends on the availability of drivers and vehicles, as well as the distance covered.

The fare rate is calculated much like that of the app-based commuter services, as it is based on the type of vehicle requested and the distance between pickup and drop off locations. Minimum fare is P500 for van and P750 for a VanPlus service, where a van porter can help load and unload the items from point to point. The base rate is P250 and P450, respectively, with additional charges of P25 per kilometer and P2.50 per minute. Fares may also vary due to traffic, weather and other factors. Currently, Mober services are on cash basis.

Items for delivery are secured and protected. These are insured for up to P50,000.

Mober seeks to partner with service providers or businesses that have their own utility vehicles by 2016. It is looking for 2013 model of vans such as Toyota Hi-Ace, Mitsubishi L300, Isuzu I-Van, and Nissan Urvan, and even 2013 model of motorcycles. The company plans to increase their delivery fleet to 250 vehicles.
