The Alcatel OneTouch Flash 2’s operating system will be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in March 2016, according to a company executive.
The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with many features, including fingerprint support, improved RAM management, more powerful computing capabilities, mobile payments, and battery saving features.
At a thanksgiving dinner for media and bloggers, Albert Wong, General Manager of the Mobile Internet Group at TCL Communication, also announced that the Flash 2, which is exclusively being sold online at Lazada.com.ph, will be sold at physical retail stores starting mid-January.
Wong noted that the Flash 2 has been selling well online. At Lazada, it is the No. 1 brand in terms of sales volume, and is the second best-selling product in terms of units, among all product categories.
The flagship phone, which is currently available only in volcanic grey, will soon be available in white and rose gold, according to Wong.
Wong also revealed that accessories for Alcatel Flash 2’s camera will also be announced in early February next. “The Flash is all about building the best camera phone experience, that is why we will be announcing new camera accessories to make the product more fun.”
Flash 2 boasts an improved camera technology. The 13.0-megapixel rear camera features RealTone Dual Flash which provides extra advantage in low light conditions while maintaining natural colors. Its 5.0-megapixels front camera has LED flash.
Powered by a 64-bit Octacore 1.3GHz MediaTek MK6753 processor, the OneTouch Flash 2 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and has 2GB of RAM which is expandable to 16GB through internal storage.
The device has a 5.0 IPS high-definition LCD screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. For better connectivity, Flash 2 has Wi-Fi, Blutooth 4.0 and GPS.
The Android smartphone has dual SIM and dual LTE features and energized by 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery.
