Huawei recently introduced to the local market two mobile gadgets: the Huawei Ascend P6, the world’s thinnest mobile device; and the Huawei Ascend Mate, an oversized phone that can serve as a tablet.
The Huawei Ascend P6 has a superbly narrow 6.18mm frame, making it the thinnest mobile device in the market today. It is packed with a 4.7-inch HD in-cell LCD screen technology, and ‘Magic Touch’ for enhanced screen responsiveness even when wearing gloves. It weighs just about 120g.
Inside the Huawei Ascend P6 sleek metallic body is a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, and it is powered by the latest version of Android operating system, the 4.2.2. JellyBean.
Perfect for selfies, the Huawei Ascend P6 boasts of an industry-leading five megapixel (MP) front-facing camera and auto facial-enhancing capabilities which create model-gorgeous shots. At the back is an 8MP rear-facing BSI camera with F2.0 aperture and 4cm macro view which enables 1080P full HD video recording and playback. With Huawei’s proprietary IMAGESmart software, the Huawei Ascend P6 turns even the most novice photographer into a professional, with contrast and color enhancement, auto scene recognition, object tracing focus, and instant facial beauty support.

The P6 smartphone can be customized with Huawei’s Emotion UI which include such proprietary user interface as updates to Uni-Home including enhanced security, Huawei’s Me Widget, Magic Touch, and SmartReading. New to Huawei’s Emotion UI are the panoramic shoot and facial recognition photography functions.
Huawei has squeezed a 2,000mAh battery into the thin body of P6. It’s unique Automated Discontinuous Reception (ADRX) and Quick Power Control (QPC) battery optimization and power saving technology improves performance by more than 30%, compared with smartphone batteries of equal size.
The Huawei Ascend P6 is now available at PhP18,990 suggested retail price. Consumers may also avail of Huawei Ascend P6 at Globe Best-Ever MySuperPlan for as low as P999 monthly at Plan 499 with P500 monthly cashout for a 24-month contract period or at Plan 999 with P200 monthly cashout also for a 24-month contract period.

Meanwhile, according to Ma, the Huawei Ascend Mate breaks barriers to deliver a supercharged entertainment, communication and creative experience for all your personal and professional needs. “The Huawei Ascend Mate is a smartphone and tablet in one and showcases our innovation as we continue to make great technology available to more people globally and locally,” he said.
The Huawei Ascend Mate, a supersized pocket cinema phablet, comes with an ultra-huge 6.1-inch HD IPS+ LCD screen that has a resolution of 1280 x 720 for unsurpassed clarity and color accuracy, and ‘Magic Touch’ which provides enhanced screen responsiveness even with gloves. The screen-to-body ratio of 73% maximizes viewing pleasure for emails, documents, video or games. It measures 6.5mm thick.
The Huawei Ascend Mate runs on Android 4.1 operating system and powered by Huawei’s Hi-Silicon 1.5GHz quad-core processors. It is packed with a 4050 mAh battery and with Huawei’s QPC and ADR smart power-saving technology, the smartphone provides up to two days of ordinary usage on a single charge.
It has an 8MP AF rear-facing camera with HDR and 1MP HD front-facing camera, and provides dual MIC noise reduction technology, Dolby sound system and stereo recording.
It also features an Augmented Reality navigation application to help reach destinations, ‘smart reading’ functionality allowing quick reference to dictionaries, Wikipedia and Google Search pages, and ‘swift sharing’ to upload pictures, videos and other files in a Wi-Fi environment.
The Huawei Ascend Mate is available at Php17,190 suggested retail price. Conusmers may also have the option to avail at Globe, with its Best-Ever MySuperPlan for free at Plan 999 and is also available at Plan 499 with a P200 monthly cashout over a 24-month contract period.
