Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is reminding everyone to stay alert against scam messages that pretend to be from trusted companies.
Smart and its value brand TNT do not send text messages with clickable links. If you receive one—even if it looks like it’s from Smart or another known brand—don’t click. It could be a scam.
“Scammers use tools to make it seem like messages are coming from real companies,” said Atty. Roy Ibay, Smart’s Vice President and Head of Regulatory Affairs. “Once you click the link, it can lead to fake websites that steal your personal or financial information.”
Smart continues to strengthen its defenses against text scams. In March alone, it prevented nearly 250 million phishing messages. It has likewise blocked over 162,000 mobile numbers linked to illegal activity in the first quarter of 2024.
Beyond network protection, Smart also runs its #BeCyberSmart campaign to help people spot and avoid scams. If you get a suspicious message, report it through Smart’s HuliScam portal at smart.com.ph/huliscam.
