Converge ICT Solutions Inc. recently hosted a five-day technology exhibit at its headquarters in Pasig, featuring the cutting-edge technologies powering its world-class network.
As a culminating activity of its year-long program to shift employee mindset in the digital age, the company invited several of its tech partners to showcase their solutions, and so educate its workforce, especially non-technical staff, on the emerging technologies transforming industries globally.
More than introducing them to the latest innovations, the exhibit marks a pivotal point in the company’s intent to become a Filipino technology powerhouse — it’s now rolling up its sleeves to strengthen the company’s lifeblood, aiming for an edge in the telco-to-techco race.
According to Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge regards talent as one of the critical areas that will help speed up its evolution into a full-fledged technology player.
“We need to build a pool of professionals who have the skills and passion to navigate the challenges of the future. While we already have a strong foundation as a fiber broadband leader, we must continue upskilling our people to be at par with global tech providers,” said Uy.
Converge began equipping its human resources in July last year as it initiated its Competenshift campaign, which targets to help employees hone skillsets aligned with the firm’s goal of offering solutions beyond internet connectivity.
The program includes a series of webinars, workshops, and 101 training sessions on topics such as the Converge Network Architecture, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Blockchain.
“The tech landscape is fast-evolving and a lot of skills are at risk of becoming outdated at this rate. The challenge for us is to identify the expertise essential for our business and support our people in developing these competencies. This doesn’t happen overnight,” Uy said.
Converge has invested in learning management systems and platforms, such as LinkedIn Learning, providing all personnel with access to relevant, and free courses. These enable them to enhance their performance while obtaining certificates that can help advance their careers.
Additionally, the company also implemented a policy that requires all its workers to complete at least 40 learning hours per year.
