AF Payments, PCG roll out dynamic beep-enabled ID cards

AF Payments Inc., the pioneer of contactless payment technology in the Philippines, proudly announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). This collaboration introduces dynamic beep-enabled PCG ID cards, signifying a major advancement in the modernization of public service.

During the official launch at the PCG National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila, a new beep- multifunctional ID card was introduced to enhance the daily operations of PCG personnel. This innovative ID card functions as both official identification and a cashless payment option, integrating effectively with the beep ecosystem, which is widely utilized across public transport and retail sectors nationwide.

“As PCG personnel start using their new beep-enabled ID cards, they can anticipate a more seamless and rewarding experience, both in their professional duties and everyday transactions. This strategic collaboration not only highlights the potential of technology to enhance public service but also stands as a testament to our commitment to modernization and convenience,” said AF Payments, Inc. President & CEO Jonathan Juan “JJ” Moreno.

“This project goes beyond payment cards. It signals a forward-looking vision, integrating technology seamlessly into the daily lives of our personnel who dedicate themselves to safeguarding our nation. Let this partnership symbolize our commitment to those who serve on the front lines. Let it serve as a reminder that the Philippine Coast Guard is a forward-thinking institution,” said Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista.

In addition to Secretary Bautista, the ceremony was also graced by PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan. “This most recent development, the deployment of beep-enabled ID card brings the Philippine Coast Guard another step closer to being fully digitally visible,” said Admiral Gavan. “This development is part of the Philippine Coast Guard’s continuing effort to modernize and we would like to take advantage of the technologies that come by.”

A Call to Innovate: Adopting beep™ Technology Across Government

The beep-enabled ID card offers PCG personnel exceptional convenience through cashless transactions on LRT1, LRT2, MRT3, P2P buses, and various other transportation systems. It is also accepted at convenience stores such as Lawson and Uncle John’s, offering access to exclusive freebies, promotions, and beep rewards points. This integration not only enhances commuting ease but also adds value to daily transactions.

This milestone exemplifies how other government agencies can leverage beep technology to modernize their processes, enhance employee convenience, and further the national digital transformation agenda.
