Officials from the central office of the Department of Education visited Stella Maris College in Quezon City to witness how the PLDT and Smart-supported Central Visayan Institute Foundation Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF-DLP) is being implemented. The visit aims to help the DepEd prepare for the adoption of the CVIF-DLP in a bid to ensure learning continues even in challenging circumstances.
The DepEd is eyeing the crisis-resilient CVIF-DLP as its alternative learning delivery method during disruptive events like the recent series of typhoons, natural calamities, pandemic lockdowns, times of conflict, and similar situations.
Since 2011, Stella Maris College QC has been implementing the CVIF-DLP. The school credits the innovative teaching pedagogy in its quick transition to module-based instruction during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As long-time partners of the DepEd, PLDT and Smart have supported the agency’s initiatives in improving the country’s basic education system. The PLDT Group’s education programs are aligned with the DepEd’s key priorities under Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara.
The agency’s five-point agenda prioritizes boosting learners’ foundational skills in reading, math and science to improve Filipino students’ performance in international large-scale assessments, professional development of teachers, employing digital innovations to augment existing teaching strategies, ensuring senior high school graduates are ready for employment, and improving educational infrastructures and resources.
The CVIF DLP highlights the PLDT Group’s commitment to inclusive quality education through Information and Communications Technology, content, pedagogy and capacity building to ensure that there is #NoLearnerLeftBehind. The initiative is also aligned with the group’s broad program to help the country achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education.
