Bulacan is rich in history and heritage. Being at the center of important historical milestones, especially during the time of the Spanish colonial era, this province in Central Luzon is a colorful place for every cultural buff.
Every year, Bulacan holds the Singkaban Festival to commemorate the anniversary of the opening of the Malolos Congress, the legislative body of the Revolutionary Government of the Philippines, on September 15, 1898. Considered as the mother of all fiestas in the province, Singkaban Festival got its name from the word “singkaban” or the welcome arch made of bamboo that is customarily found in entrances to greet visitors.
This year, PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has supported the Singkaban Festival from September 9-14, making it more meaningful by enabling the local community to experience a more colorful and memorable celebration, contributing positively to Bulacan’s tourism industry. Smart helped promote the festival via its social media channels. Festival goers also explored the Smart booth and learned more about the ZTE 5G Blade smartphone bundle as well as PowerAll99 and other value-packed promos.
Visitors and locals were amazed by the incredible float parade and talent of the local student dancers who added color to the whole fiesta, along with other events and exhibits that showcased Bulacan’s finest.
Smart also powered the Hari at Reyna ng Singkaban pageant that showcased the beauty and elegance of Bulakenyos and Bulakenyas.
And lastly, festival attendees rocked the night away as famous OPM rock bands and performers closed the week-long Singkaban Festival.
Locals and tourists made their experience more exciting by connecting to Smart’s leading mobile network, to post and share their festival moments as they happen. Smart also made the festival more colorful by offering festival-exclusive promos, premium items, and vouchers that they can enjoy during the event. Smart’s support to the Singkaban Festival is aligned with the telco’s commitment to empower communities and boost tourism.
