PLDT Inc. (PLDT) strengthens adherence to international standards as it earns certifications on ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
“Completing the audit process for the recently earned certifications underscores PLDT’s dedication in implementing best practices that drive continuous improvement, enhance customer satisfaction, reduce environmental impact, and ensure a safe working environment for its most important asset – the workforce,” said Engr. Kristine Gonzalez-Catague, Head of Corporate Environment, Health and Safety Center.
The ISO 9001 standard guides organizations in identifying internal and external factors that affect the business and stakeholders, set objectives and policies, craft and implement action plans that help fulfill regulatory requirements and improve processes to meet the needs of its customers, primarily its employees, in this endeavor.
Meanwhile, ISO 14001 focuses on the integration of environmental management in the company’s strategies. The standard promotes environmental protection through the efficient use of resources relevant to the company’s operations, and waste reduction.
Finally, ISO 45001 helps companies come up with a framework on improving employee safety, reducing risks in the workplace, and creating better, safer working conditions. It aids organizational plans for emergencies and potential life-threatening situations.
“This milestone is a testament to the hard work and support of the different business units across all levels of the organization. These certifications play a crucial role in reinforcing our strategic objectives. They keep us motivated in achieving operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and caring for the well-being of our employees,” said Leo A. Gonzales, VP and Head of Property Facilities and Asset Resiliency Management and Chairman of PLDT Central Environment, Health and Safety Committee.
These ISO certifications align with PLDT’s commitment to adopt the highest standards of occupational health and safety and environmental performance, fortifying its operational focus on employee welfare, customer experience, and sustainability.
These efforts also underscore the PLDT Group’s commitment to helping the country attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly on UN SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth and UN SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
