ZTE honors outstanding students through its scholarship program in PH

The scholarship is a cornerstone of the company’s S.T.A.R. (Skills, Talent, Attitude, and Responsibility) Industry-Academe Linkage (IALP) Program, which was initiated in 2022 through a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ZTE, the University of Santo Tomas (UST), and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

ZTE Corporation, provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, proudly announces the launch of its first-ever scholarship program in the Philippines, recognizing six exceptional students from top universities across the country. This initiative reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and driving innovation in the digital landscape.

The scholarship is a cornerstone of the company’s S.T.A.R. (Skills, Talent, Attitude, and Responsibility) Industry-Academe Linkage (IALP) Program, which was initiated in 2022 through a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ZTE, the University of Santo Tomas (UST), and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

ZTE Philippines’ Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Jin Zhi Chao, emphasized that the scholarship program aims to “cultivate emerging talents in telecommunications” as part of the company’s commitment to driving the digital economy forward.

Additionally, Liu Feng, ZTE Philippines’ HR Director, highlighted the significance of this scholarship as a pivotal milestone in the industry-academe partnership. “ZTE will continue to expand our talent pool through collaborations with various educational institutions in the Philippines,” affirmed Liu Feng.

Gratitude poured in from the partnering universities, with UST and PUP expressing heartfelt appreciation for ZTE’s support during challenging times.

According to UST Vice Rector for Finance and Faculty of Engineering Regent, Rev. Fr. Roberto L. Luanzon, O.P., SThD, DL, “This scholarship is particularly beneficial during these challenging times of pandemic and economic crisis. We are sincerely thankful. Initiatives like this are essential for fostering global cooperation and mutual support.”

Director Ana Publico, PECE, LPT, of the PUP Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance (OFSA), has expressed heartfelt appreciation to ZTE for their invaluable scholarship support. She remarked, “The partnership between ZTE and PUP serves as a beacon of hope for ZTE S.T.A.R scholars. The profound impact of the scholarship program is evident in the sustained high academic achievement and holistic development of the scholars.”

The scholarship recipients also shared their inspiring stories, showcasing the transformative power of the program. Euneez Lara, a ZTE-UST scholar, described the experience as a turning point in her life, filled with gratitude for the opportunities ZTE has provided.

Marc Distor, a graduating Electrical Engineering student from UST, expressed immense relief as the scholarship eased financial burdens for his family, allowing them to focus on his academic journey. Mikhail Camacho, a graduating Electronics Engineering student from PUP, spoke passionately about the newfound focus and determination the scholarship ignited within him.

Carlos Gomez, another ZTE-PUP scholar, radiated enthusiasm as he shared his aspirations for the future, fueled by the inspiration ZTE Philippines has instilled in him. Rose Dela Cruz, also from PUP, emphasized the scholarship’s role in boosting her confidence and commitment to excellence.

Jessie Co, a graduating BS Civil Engineering student from UST, looked ahead with optimism, eager to pay forward ZTE’s kindness through impactful community contributions and academic achievements.

The recent meet-and-greet ceremony was a heartwarming celebration of talent, dedication, and partnership. It allowed scholars and university representatives to connect with ZTE leadership in the Philippines, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.

As ZTE continues to champion education and innovation in the Philippines, it remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing the brightest talents and shaping a brighter future for all.
