In our digital world, the internet has become a way of life. And access to it has become a measure of our standard of living. Those with the least access end up having the least opportunities to communicate well, learn, get medical care, do business, and contribute to society.
Imagine the possibilities if every Filipino can access the internet wherever they are–in malls, schools, transport terminals, hospitals or their barangay halls—without having to worry about fees?
That is the vision behind the YES! Free WiFi platform which offers the Filipino public totally free internet. A collaboration between marketing agency Craft Shack Inc. and its technical services partner FOC Inc. / Artbi Global Philippine Corporation, YES! Free WiFi aims to make the internet more accessible to Filipinos and help bridge the gap in the nation’s connectivity.
The service has been quietly rolling out across the country beginning with the Manila City Hall and the Manila Zoo in 2023. Since then, it has expanded to 77 locations nationwide. By the end of this year, YES! Free WiFi aims to expand its reach to over 500 locations, and by 2025 surpass 1,000 sites.
What makes YES! Free WiFi unique?
While various telcos and institutions offer free public WiFi, these often require payment after a limited time access—which is a major roadblock in a society where the priority of most is putting food on the table.
“And that pain point is mainly what we wanted to address through YES! Free WiFi—it’s totally free and offers repeated access, as long as users keep engaging,” said JP Mercado, YES! Free WiFi managing director. “Connect. Engage with Ads. Enjoy free WiFi minutes—it’s that simple to use YES! Free WiFi, and it is also now that simple for brands to connect with their consumers.”
YES! Free WiFi, through its YES! Ad Solutions, provides brands with real-time awareness and engagement opportunities while enhancing consumers’ connectivity. Advertisers can choose from a variety of ad formats (photos, videos, surveys, etc.) to promote their products and services to a targeted audience in a specific location.
J&K Impex as first advertiser
On June 10, 2024, Craft Shack signed up J&K Impex Group Corp., official distributors of Sunkist Fruit & Jell products, as the first major advertiser on the YES! Free WiFi platform. “Having our first major advertiser not only opens more opportunities for us, but also further drives us to expand our territories and innovate our services so that in return, we can help our advertisers fulfill their goals,” Mercado said during contract signing ceremonies at the Ibis Styles Hotel, Araneta City.
FOC Inc. / Artbi Global Philippine Corporation Chairman Danny Seo expressed appreciation for the strong partnership with Craft Shack. “We are committed to expanding our network, improving our services, and providing Filipinos with reliable internet access for free. This is just the beginning, and we are excited about the future and the opportunities it holds.”
For his part, J&K Impex Group CEO Gucci Ku expressed optimism for the growth of the Sunkist brand in the Philippines with the help of YES! Free WiFi. “Sunkist has always tried to offer fresh and healthy choices, and we have been dedicated to successfully establishing our presence in the Philippine market. Throughout this journey, we have worked tirelessly and it brings me great joy to have the opportunity to grow alongside dedicated partners like you.”
