foodpanda Logistics launched its women empowerment and livelihood program called “Ka-pandaBIZ: Women on Wheels in observance of this year’s Women’s Month. The program aims to highlight female Ka-panda delivery partners who exemplify leadership qualities that contribute to the betterment of their respective communities.
This initiative came about through the partnership between foodpanda and Hapinoy Philippines and in support of the Philippine Commission on Women (PWC).
According to Jerome Mangahas, head of public relations at foodpanda, they are proud that their Ka-pandaBIZ female delivery partners are now a fast growing community. He is also elated to be part in helping them grow and empowered.
Mark Joaquin Ruiz, president at Hapinoy Philippines, said they are excited to join these female delivery riders in their journey, in HapiSkwela and partnership with Ka-pandaBIZ. He is hoping that they are able to do justice in empowering these community leaders from foodpanda.
foodpanda sees the important roles of its female delivery partners, and acknowledges the need to provide a fair playing field for these women especially in the delivery sector. For this year’s Women’s Month, the logistics firm is not just highlighting the stories of these women but also providing them a platform where they can be empowered and give them tools to support their own business, and a platform to help them in their leadership roles in their respective community.
foodpanda already has Ka-pandaBIZ last year. There were three Ka-panda beneficiaries that were given training packages to support their own business. For this year, it has six Ka-panda female delivery partners who will be included in the program. The company also hopes that as years go by, more Ka-pandas will be joining the program in line with foodpanda’s advocacy of empowerment and sense of inclusivity.
For the Ka-pandaBIZ: Women on Wheels, they would be having or experiencing different modules for different financial and business-related lessons. Personal leadership and community trainings are also available for them. These women will be given right knowledge and tools in order for them to continue and empower the people in their community. At the same time, foodpanda wants them to be successful entrepreneurs. Additionally, the Ka-pandaBIZ: Women on Wheels is a holistic and sustainable livelihood program where these women will be given P100,000 worth of goods or capital that they can start with. They will undergo training sessions, mentoring, and catch up with their mentors and Hapinoy.
