PLDT Enterprise, the corporate business arm of PLDT Inc., the country’s leading integrated telecommunications company, invited technology experts from seven electric cooperatives operating in Western Visayas to showcase digital solutions that would enhance their services to more than 1.1 million customers and further improve their operational efficiency and network security.
In a workshop organized by PLDT Enterprise, in coordination with Fortinet, the telco company gathered technology experts and officers from Aklan Electric Cooperative, Antique Electric Cooperative, Iloilo II Electric Cooperative, Iloilo III Electric Cooperative, Capiz Electric Cooperative, Central Negros Electric Cooperative, and Guimaras Electric Cooperative to introduce a highly scalable and secure networking solution supporting them in their day-to-day operations, further elevating their businesses.
“As digital transformation allies to these electric cooperatives, we always try to put ourselves in their position and look at their business and industry from their vantage point,” said Ma. Hazel Amoyan, PLDT Enterprise Business Head. “PLDT Enterprise, as their technology partner, is fully committed to finding the right tools to future-proof these electric cooperatives and ensure that we could go further together,” she added.
PLDT Enterprise is the preferred choice among Western Visayas’ electric cooperatives due to their dedication and expertise in delivering vital and reliable digital solutions to businesses. This is particularly important in a region that experiences heightened energy consumption during peak vacation times, owing to its array of tourist destinations, including Boracay, Guimaras Island, and the cities of Bacolod, Iloilo, and Roxas.
To support the region’s growing economy, PLDT Enterprise provides electric cooperatives with reliable connectivity and digital services such as SMS messaging suite and postpaid plans to increase business productivity and improve operational efficiency.
Among the cooperatives present during the workshop, ILECO II and ILECO III have already acquired connectivity solutions from PLDT Enterprise, further improving their operations, substation interconnection, and network security.
Pio Abelardo Marcial Dumol, President for Western Visayas of the League of Goal-Oriented Information and Communication Technologist, said that the workshop provided the participants a better understanding of digital technologies and what it offers to the businesses and operations of electric cooperatives.
“PLDT Enterprise offers reliable network connectivity, security, and monitoring solutions, which give us technology officers the ability to proactively detect threats, respond quickly, and reduce downtime,” said Dumol, who is also the Regulatory Compliance Officer at CAPELCO. “Through technology, we were able to address the complex requirements of our business to bring electricity to customers and drive growth in Western Visayas,” he added.
PLDT Enterprise continues to take the vision of its customers further into the digital era by equipping them with reliable and stable network solutions. As of end-June 2023, the PLDT Group’s sustained investments in technology and infrastructure is complemented by its extensive fiber optic network which now spans over 1.1 million kilometers– helping customers, industries, and the public sector in their respective transformational journeys.
