PLDT Global, Department of Migrant Workers serve and empower OFWs

Under this partnership, PLDT Global through TINBO (Tindahan ni Bossing) – the one-stop gateway for digital services will provide free wifi within the DMW premises in Mandaluyong City, as well as zero-rated calls to the DMW hotline catering to both pre-departing overseas Filipinos and those who are already deployed abroad.

PLDT Global Inc. (PLDT Global), a wholly owned subsidiary of PLDT Inc. (PLDT), has teamed up with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) for global Filipino-focused initiatives.

“Our DMW partnership is aligned with our commitment to provide global Filipinos access to digital services. Through TINBO, we empower millions of overseas Filipinos with the digital services that help them take care of their families back home and at the same time, aid our partner-merchants and concerned government agencies, such as the DMW, reach and serve the large market of Filipinos abroad,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, President and CEO at PLDT Global.

“We need to transform our OFWs into digitally-skilled workers and perhaps train them on social media etiquette, assist in entrepreneurship and employment opportunities,” said DMW Secretary Susan Ople.

Customers can register via tinbo.ph to get a Smart Virtual Number (SVN), that serves as their Philippine mobile number whenever they are outside the country.

Their SVN – powered by Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), PLDT Inc.’s wireless unit – also allows TINBO users to receive one-time passwords (OTPs) for secure payment and banking transactions, as well as to receive calls and texts without a physical SIM.

The SVN will enable overseas Filipinos to receive SMS updates and announcements from the DMW and enjoy free calls to the DMW hotline from anywhere in the world.

With TINBO, overseas Filipinos can buy load, data packages, and even gaming PINs for their families in the Philippines. They can also conveniently pay their Philippine utilities and government billers, access digital banking needs via Maya, and enjoy other digital services.

TINBO is another innovation that contributes to the overall PLDT Group commitment to improve its customer service by creating digital solutions and tapping partners to enhance customer experience wherever they are in the world.
