PLDT Inc.’s wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. sets up SIM Registration booth in Carles, Iloilo to fast-track protection of more subscribers against SIM-aided fraud, especially those in far-away towns. This is in support of the National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) three-day roadshow of setting up SIM Registration booths in remote areas.
Engr. Leah Dela Cruz-Doromal, OIC-Regional Director of NTC Region 6, expressed the agency’s gratitude to Smart for its all-out support. “On behalf of NTC, we are very thankful for Smart’s cooperation and support for SIM Registration. Carles is our first location in Region 6, and we are all hoping for the success of this event,” said Doromal.
As of January 26, 2023, Smart has registered the SIMs of 13,230,802 subscribers nationwide. The telco has doubled up its effort of putting up assisted SIM registration booths in far-away towns to ensure that no one is left behind, especially in the fight against SMS-, Internet-, or Electronic-enabled attacks.
