PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) expanded the communication channel of Governor Alfonso D. Tan College (GATDC) in Misamis Occidental with the Smart Infocast system.
Through the platform, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) can quickly send out important announcements to the GADTC community through an SMS broadcast system powered by Smart.
OSA Dean John Reyman Pondoc was impressed with Infocast’s features that make it more efficient to relay information. “We can send messages to thousands of students on our list, simultaneously. It was quite impossible to do it before, but with Infocast, it’s just one click away,” he said.
Pondoc added, “In this time of the pandemic, we are happy that this platform helps keep our students updated about school events. We are also thankful for this meaningful partnership with Smart. ”This initiative is part of Smart’s advocacy to improve the lives of the Filipino people by providing digital solutions to its partner communities.
Key initiatives of Smart and parent company PLDT demonstrate the application of ICT for development, in support of the Group-wide advocacy to promote digital inclusion. These initiatives also aim to contribute to the achievement of UN SDG #4 of providing quality education.
