PLDT’s corporate business segment, PLDT Enterprise, caps off 2021 with strong double-digit growth in critical ICT revenue streams, lifting the business to new heights, while supporting the country’s key industries towards economic recovery post pandemic. Gains were bannered by milestone years in Data Center and Cloud revenues, which are now a multi-billion revenue stream for the PLDT Group.
“We see the Enterprise business as a growth driver in our business. Apart from the continued growth in basic connectivity and data centers, we are optimistic on the hyperscalers market and on offering solutions to more businesses, large and MSMEs,” said PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.
This year marks PLDT’s solid thrust in priming the country as the next Hyperscaler destination and digital hub in Asia, working hand in hand with key government agencies on campaigns to attract global cloud and technology companies looking to expand their presence and operations in the region. As data centers and ICT continue to see uptake among large companies fueled by the market’s growing demand for more digital services, PLDT continues to invest in fortifying its massive network of data center infrastructure spread all over the country.
Apart from ICT infrastructure, PLDT has embarked on aggressive international expansion efforts that include investments on JUPITER and APRICOT cable system capacities to ensure Hyperscale connectivity readiness going in and out of the Philippines, alongside expansive fiber roll out in-country, enabling connectivity to business districts and powering Smart City projects of various LGUs.
“There’s greater awareness among LGUs about the importance of establishing smart cities in their location. A good example of this is what we’ve done in the province of Cavite where we’ve deployed significant fiberization for the entire province – that’s a peg or a model for other LGUs to follow,” Pangilinan added.
This year, PLDT Enterprise announced multiple partnerships with the national government in aid of their COVID-19 pandemic efforts, including the continuous support for public hotlines to the Philippine General Hospital which launched last year and other national referral hospitals, as well as support to the vaccination drives of LGUs when public inoculation started.
PLDT also provided critical connectivity services to the government including the Department of Education’s massive roll out of free data connectivity for public school teachers to help with their online teaching and training programs.
PLDT also announced its pioneering 5G business case with the International Container Terminals Services, Inc. to enhance their operations and provide streamlined services for their customers using new technology.
Most recently, PLDT announced its planned buildout of the largest data center in the Philippines, underscoring the country’s viability as a competitive and attractive destination for ICT, particularly for global hyperscalers expanding in the APAC region.
