PLDT, Smart tie up with La Union and Gabay Guro

PLDT and Smart seek to uplift and improve the overall physical and mental wellness of Filipinos through food security, improving nutrition, and creating awareness online.

Together with the Province of La Union and PLDT-Smart Foundation’s Gabay Guro program, PLDT and Smart reinforce their commitment in promoting mental health by linking up the “Kamusta Ka, eLyU?” conversations series and Gabay Guro’s Learning Never Stops program.

Garnering over 3,200 views and counting, the program was hosted by advocate Joy Ortega. Among those who took part include mWell’s Dr. Maria Bernadett Carandang and Roxanne Montealegre, who is a PLDT Home Biz MomBassador and part of mWell’s mom communities. Dr. Carandang discussed ways to manage stress and fatigue, especially amid the pandemic, while also touching on self-care for individuals. Meanwhile, Montealegre, as a new mom, shared what it’s like to navigate through digital parenting. As a content creator, she also emphasized the importance of responsible use of digital technology and social media.

“We continue to ask the question, “Kamusta Ka?” because we believe that asking others how they are will go a long way. We hope that this program will serve as a reminder that mental health affects everyone – the youth, our students, our teachers, and even ourselves. Now more than ever, we hope that each of us will find the strength to be better every day and know that in times of darkness, we have this safe space – to provide comfort and support during difficult times,” said Cathy Yap-Yang, who is PLDT and Smart’s First Vice President and Group Head for Corporate Communications.

“In Gabay Guro, we believe that supporting our teachers creates a ripple effect of positive change, which greatly impacts today’s society – most especially, our youth, who are the hope of our future. With this hyper-collaborative initiative, we bring to our teachers a special session that we hope will inspire each of them to strive towards becoming the best versions of themselves. We hope to empower them to carry on with courage, strength, and resilience,” said Chaye Cabal-Revilla, who is Gabay Guro’s Chairperson and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation Finance, Risk, and Sustainability Officer.

PLDT and Smart seek to uplift and improve the overall physical and mental wellness of Filipinos through food security, improving nutrition, and creating awareness online.

These initiatives emphasize the Group’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG #3: Good Health and Well-Being.
