PLDT Global Corporation (PGC), the international arm of the Philippines’ largest fully integrated telco PLDT, has teamed up with Healthcare United Global Solutions (HUGS) to provide access to effective telemedicine services to overseas Filipinos and their families during the pandemic.

HUGS is a primary care and wellness provider that operates iDoc Telehealth (iDoc) to deliver preventive medicine and holistic care to its clients. iDoc offers unlimited online (voice, SMS, instant messaging, email) medical consultations, online prescriptions to its partner pharmacy, online referrals for diagnostics or specialists, and cloud-based electronic health records with health trackers, chronic disease monitoring through its web portal and mobile app. Options to get annual physical exams (APE) and even mental health telecounseling are also available.

In a virtual contract signing ceremony, Albert Villa-Real, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at PGC emphasized the importance of bringing this telehealth service closer to global Filipinos.

“We are in the position to do that as PLDT Global, because of our connection to OFWs. PGC and Free Bee will remain committed to bringing brands and services like HUGS closer to OFWs, especially during this time of pandemic. This is also a testament of our malasakit as we make sure that our digital solutions provide seamless services for our customers overseas,” Villa-Real said.

For HUGS, this partnership means reaching more Filipinos around the globe and having a greater opportunity to help them find available and cost-effective options on how to stay healthy.  Filipinos abroad will be able to conveniently access HUGS’ free medical consultation services via PGC’s award-winning mobile app, Free Bee, which is available in over 180 countries. Using the Free Bee on their mobile phones, overseas Filipinos will be able to check out HUGS’s subscription plans by clicking Free Bee’s “What’s The Buzz” section.

“We want to give everybody, especially our OFWs and their families, a chance at a better quality of life through proper healthcare. At HUGS, we want to provide convenient, connected, continuous, and coordinated care wherever you are. And through our partnership with PGC via Free Bee, we hope to digitally share our services with our modern-day heroes,” said Dr. Manolito Pablo V. Ferreol, President at HUGS.
