Daikin Air Purifier effective against Covid-19

Most air purifiers draw in air, catch dust with its filter, and release “clean” air.  For Daikin, there is still room for improvement.

Having claimed the lives of millions worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally changed the way people value the air they breathe. And while staying indoors helps protect people from the coronavirus, even the cleanest room can be filled with invisible particles that could be harmful to their health, like dust, pollen, bacteria, mold, and viruses.

It’s this growing demand for clean air that is also driving the increasing demand for household air purifiers. Even the Department of Labor and Employment notes that air purifiers help mitigate the transmission of COVID-19. In its recently released Department Order 224-21, it states: “Where ventilation is greatly recirculated or accessed to outside air is not feasible, filters such as HEPA filtration air purifiers can be used to clean recirculated air, provided that the unit is adequate for the size of the room in which it is installed in. Ensure proper maintenance by following manufacturer recommendations of these devices.”

With clean air being of the utmost importance during this time, Daikin, the world’s leading air conditioning manufacturer, is making sure families can combat indoor air pollution with state-of-the-art air purifying streamer technology—proven to be 99.9% effective against the Novel CoronaVirus (SARS CoV2) during testing conducted at Okayama University of Science in Japan last July 2020.

“Just like food or water, clean air is essential to our survival,” said Takayoshi Miki, President of Daikin Philippines. “That’s why we continue to identify opportunities to make the spaces we live and work in not just more comfortable, but also safer and cleaner. At Daikin, we developed new air purifiers that help protect the spread of germs, viruses, and dust particles that might be present in the air.

Not all air purifiers are made equal

Most air purifiers draw in air, catch dust with its filter, and release “clean” air.  For Daikin, there is still room for improvement. Daikin Air Purifiers are equipped with streamer technology in order to remove impurities, prevent sickness, and help families breathe easier. Features like:

  • Streamer Technology. This patented Daikin technology enables the decomposition of viruses and bacteria captured on the HEPA filter, resulting in healthier and cleaner air. Streamer Technology ensures viruses and bacteria don’t stay alive on the filter and is proven to be 99.9% effective against SARS CoV2.
  • Active Plasma Ion. This technology reacts with the air to generate hydroxyl radicals which decays unpleasant protein particles to eliminate germs, fungus allergens, odor, and bacteria. There is a stagnant air in the room which will not go through HEPA filter. Daikin Active Plasma Ion technology releases negative ions to every corner of the room that eliminates harmful particles stagnantly staying in the air.
  • Electrostatic HEPA Filter. This is unique to Daikin air purifiers. This technology captures even the smallest particles, by using electrostatic forces much stronger and faster than just a HEPA filter.

“When used along with other best practices recommended by the government, Daikin air purifier can help protect yourself and your family,” said Miki.
