Schneider Electric, a company engaged in digital transformation of energy management and automation, continues to embrace sustainability commitment in its operations as it believes that it is possible to maximize efficiency and productivity while reducing its impact in the environment.
The company takes an active role in the journey towards promoting a more sustainable business as it uses materials from renewable sources and is mindful of the carbon footprints associated to economic growth.
“Our priority must be to minimize the impact of our operations upon the planet, and I’m proud to say that in Schneider Electric, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our commitment to it extends across our technology, our valued chain, our business model, and our culture,” said Natalya Makarochkina, SVP-Secure Power Division, Schneider Electric. “At a strategic level, we even include the word in our company mission – to promote energy and automation digital solutions for efficiency and sustainability.”
In the 2018-2020 Schneider’s Sustainability Impact, the company has a collection of its sustainability goals based on five mega trends groupings. The company needs this to share and measure the progress on its sustainability objectives which are closely tied to the United Nation’s sustainability development goals.
To show its commitment, Makarochkina cited an example. She said their commitment to help stop the planet from overheating means 80% of the energy they used come from renewable sources, and 75% of their sales come from green program. They also used materials from recycled sources. Schneider Electric also disclosed that it avoided 120,000 metric tons of primary resource consumption through recycling.
Apart from these, Schneider Electric also helped companies they have worked with. The company has trained over 400,000 underprivileged people in energy management and programs, and provided over 15,000 volunteering base through its global volunteering platform. It also provided 90% of its partner-firms access to a comprehensive well-being at work program.
