Acer launches Earthion mission to adopt technology solutions through sustainability

The company joins other world’s leading enterprises in this initiative to achieve its long-term commitment to green energy usage.

Technology firm Acer announced its commitment to use 100% renewable energy by 2035 when it joined the RE100, a global initiative formed by businesses that focus on sourcing renewable energy for all their energy use. The company joins other world’s leading enterprises in this initiative to achieve its long-term commitment to green energy usage.

Acer also launched its Earthion mission that adopts technology solutions through sustainability by producing products made of recycled and environment-friendly materials. The Earthion mission was created with the belief that technology will drive the sustainable green solution necessary to protect the environment.

The Earthion platform, formed in a cross-generational green design workshop in 2020, combines the strength of the company, its supply chain partners and channels, employees and its sustainability efforts to speed up the creation of green designs and processes to protect the environment. Through this mission, Acer is committed to adopt 20% to 30% post consumer recycled (PCR) plastic in its products by 2025.

These efforts, which boost product design and process development in green and sustainable ways, are best represented by Aspire Vero laptop, Acer’s first sustainability-focused product under its Earthion platform. Made of recycled materials, the device was assembled to conform to Acer’s environmental sustainability approach.

Aspire Vero is made of PCR plastic, a direct and efficient solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, or up to 20% less carbon dioxide emissions. Vero’s products consider environmental protection, sustainable materials, repairability, upgradability, and recyclability.

The color treatment effects and texture of Vero’s products were combined to create a unique style. These come with high quality details while avoiding additional surface treatment processes that are potentially harmful to the environment. The device uses recycled plastic all over its form factor and keyboard caps. When the laptop is opened, the keyboard is slightly raised for ergonomic typing. The packaging is also made from recycled paper pulp with minimal printing for further recycling in the future while the design was crafted to absorb by people who care for the environment.

Aspire Vero does not compromise performance. It is equipped with the latest 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Integrated Iris X graphics which enables daily productivity tasks and more, while providing space of up to 1TB of M.2 SSD storage for storing files. It runs Windows 10 and features DDR4 RAM.
