Shopee launches ‘5.5 Brands Festival’

To put the spotlight on its partnerships with brands, Shopee launched the 5.5 Brands Festival, its first online shopping event this year, to create a convenient and rewarding shopping experience for Filipinos, create a positive impact among Filipinos by helping them secure their needs at the best value, and create opportunities for brands to thrive further in the digital space.

More and more Filipinos now prefer to shop online resulting to a growth in online spending on basic necessities as they learn to adapt to restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was according to Shopee associate director Martin Yu which claimed that based on the 2021 Global Web Index Market Snapshot, over 50% of Filipino consumers now opt to purchase goods online. Likewise, the study shows that there has been a 31% growth in online spending for groceries and household products and a 36% increase in medicines and healthcare purchases.

The growth in online spending was also attributed to product brands boarded on Shopee which keep on evolving and growing in numbers to satisfy the needs of Filipinos. Since 2017, there was a four-fold increase in brands joining Shopee. To date, it’s already over 23,000 official brand stores across its market. By supporting brands, Shopee provides Filipinos access in everything they need at the very best price.    

“From the very beginning, Shopee works with all your favorite brands to bring the best on it and everything you need so you can maximize your resources,” said Yu.

On this event, Shopee is going back-to-back brand takeovers where shoppers can enjoy free shipping with no minimum spend at ShopeePay Sale on April 29, claim over PhP1-million worth of prizes at Shopee Prizes Sale on May 3, and redeem over PhP5,500 worth of vouchers at Brands Vouchers Sale on May 4. From April 29 to May 1, shoppers can redeem 50% cashback and enjoy flash deals of up to 50% off on brands at the Home Fair, and at the Electronics Fair from May 2 to May 4.

On May 5, shoppers can expect a 24-hour of non-stop exciting shopping deals, which include flash deals with 50% off on selected brands, free shipping with minimum zero spend, 50% cashback on selected shopping stores, and up to 90% off on leading brands.
