Fujitsu GDC Philippines highlighted its partnership with the NGO Food for the Hungry in the Philippines, through its work supporting mothers in the Bitungol, Tigbe, Norzagaray, Bulacan (BTNB) Mats Manufacturing Group after their livelihood was threatened by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fujitsu Philippines GDC helped this community with the purchase of 1,300 handmade laptop sleeves.

The efforts of Fujitsu Global Delivery Center (GDC) employees in the Philippines in giving back to the community have been recognized by a United Nations award. In the inaugural Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Award1 for Community and Industry Engagement from United Nations Women in Asia-Pacific region, Fujitsu was recognized as one of the runners-up.

The UN Women 2020 Asia-Pacific WEPs Community and Industry Engagement category recognizes corporate champions that promote gender equality through community and industry engagement. This includes integrating gender equality into corporate social responsibility strategies, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or philanthropy programs. Fujitsu also supports and collaborates with non-government organizations that promote gender equality, and participates in advocacy or multi-stakeholder programs to promote gender equality.

In a virtual ceremony held in November, Fujitsu was recognized as a category runner-up. A Women’s Empowerment Principles Award for Community and Industry Engagement was accepted on behalf of Fujitsu by Helen Lamb, Head of Industry and Portfolio Services in the Global Delivery business, and Arlene Gregorio, Head of the Fujitsu GDC in the Philippines.

Fujitsu’s initiatives are part of two pillars – Community and Diversity & Inclusion – of the Global Delivery organization’s Global Responsible Business Program (GRiP). Fujitsu is a global signatory to the Women’s Empowerment Principles and uses the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to collaborate with customers and community groups to focus on initiatives with positive, long-lasting impacts, based on local needs.

Helen Lamb commented: “Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world, and which can only be achieved through Gender Empowerment. Arlene Gregorio, Head of the Fujitsu GDC in the Philippines, said: “This recognition reinforces our commitment that we can further deepen and expand the impact of Fujitsu’s Responsible Business Programs toward community development through Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment. Being recognized with this award inspires us to do more for our society, in support of Fujitsu’s corporate purpose of making the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation.”
