Following the launch of their partnership in September this year, Singlife Philippines and e-wallet GCash embarked on their maiden product, Cash for Dengue Costs, a comprehensive yet affordable protection product that provides a multi-level benefit against unforeseen medical expenses due to Dengue and COVID-19 infections. The product also provides customers with instant access to their policy anywhere, anytime.
Boasting of low-cost protection and customizable coverage levels, customers can avail of Cash for Dengue Costs for a starting premium of PhP300 annually or PhP30 per month. The most comprehensive coverage level is PhP700 per year which provides a benefit of up to PhP421,500.
There are three coverage levels for individual plan to choose from depending on the customer’s budget and needs. These include Bronze, Silver, and Gold plans. For family plan, each family member will have a separate coverage to ensure that each of them will have adequate protection.
For a start, Singlife Philippines offers free COVID-19 cover for the first 10,000 customers who will avail of Cash for Dengue Costs on GCash.
With an option to cover individual plan or to include immediate family members, applying for Cash for Dengue Costs takes less than five minutes. Applicants must be a verified GCash user between 18 to 54 years old using three easy steps: Confirming GCash profile, choosing the plan, and pay premium using GCash wallet, and policy gets issued instantly.
Likewise, customers can easily file claims and payouts as claims details and supporting documents can be uploaded directly on the GCash app. “It is the first dengue plan which pays out benefits within 24 hours to their GCash wallet,” said Kame Amado-Gomez, head of Digital Networks at Singlife Philippines.
The benefit derived from the product increases when the cash to pay for medical costs increases. If you have symptoms of dengue or COVID-19, Singlife will provide an allowance to cover the cost of the test to be conducted. If you get diagnosed and confined, you’ll get a lump sum benefit to cover the cost. If you get diagnosed with a more severe strain of infections, Singlife will reimburse the actual expenses up to a set maximum amount.
“The good thing about the experience is that not only are we able to issue the policy real time, we’re also able to provide customers instant access to their policy,” said Amado-Gomez, claiming they will be able to see pertinent details of the policy they have bought such as the coverage, premiums, who is insured, beneficiaries, etc.
To make financial services more accessible and provides product that is both comprehensive and affordable enough to cover medical costs is the vision of the partnership. “We aimed Filipinos to be better prepared for unforeseen medical expenses due to dengue and COVID-19 infections,” said Amado-Gomez.
On the other hand, Jerome Lim, head of Savings and Insurance at Mynt-Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc. (GCash), said the main consideration in developing Cash for Dengue Costs in the app is in line with bringing out relevant products in the market, providing simple access and easy to purchase insurance.
“Together with Singlife Philippines, we are making protection products easy to purchase, manage, and claim through an innovative and seamless digital customer experience. By being fully digital, the entire customer journey has become more convenient and more personal for Filipino families,” said Jerome Lim, head of Savings and Insurance at Mynt-Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc. (GCash).
