Globe encourages suppliers to adopt sustainable practices

The company’s over 1,000 suppliers are currently being asked to support Globe’s ambition to deliver substantial indirect economic impact in its operating ecosystem. Last year, Globe provided P86.5 billion worth of business to local suppliers alone.

Globe encourages its domestic and foreign suppliers to adopt sustainable practices in their operations as well as locally source their materials and services to provide more stimulus to the development of the communities especially with the pandemic.

The company’s over 1,000 suppliers are currently being asked to support Globe’s ambition to deliver substantial indirect economic impact in its operating ecosystem.  Last year, Globe provided P86.5 billion worth of business to local suppliers alone.

Globe also sets its sights on partnering only with businesses that share its values of sustainability in the areas of Labor, Health & Safety, Business Continuity, Environment, and Governance & Ethics. In fact, the company has started to evaluate proposals not only on the basis of best-value but also taking into  consideration their environmental and social policies and practices.

As a signatory to the UN Global Compact (UNGC), Globe aligns its commitment to the 10 UNGC Principles  with four key themes – Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-Corruption –  to its supply chain. Globe’s Supplier Code of Ethics (SCOE) clearly lays down the company’s expectations from its partners with regard to doing sustainable practices by establishing standards of quality and business integrity.  Globe also conducts vendor self-assessment to gauge the awareness of its vendors on sustainability principles as part of its Sustainable Supply Chain Management program.

“Globe is committed to developing, practicing, and promoting supply chain policies and programs that support our sustainability objectives.  Through our Supplier Code of Ethics,  we aim to ensure that human rights are preserved,   operations are environmentally responsible and conducted in an ethical manner throughout the supplier value chain,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications.

As part of the company’s endeavor to step up its sustainability practices at the supply chain level, Globe plans to conduct external audits in the future for its critical suppliers.  Globe will likewise roll out an engagement program to bring about alignment in principle of practicing sustainability.

Globe is committed to implement universal sustainability principles and contribute to 10 of 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  Its focus areas in this vision include education, health and wellness, environmental conservation, digital inclusion and development.
