Lenovo announced the “Smarter Technology for All” scholarship in collaboration with UK-based non-profit, One Young World.
The scholarship supports a young innovator to participate in the 2019 One Young World Summit in London, where thousands of young leaders from more than 190 countries connect and learn together from other global humanitarian leaders working to accelerate social impact.
Funded by the Lenovo Foundation, the scholarship is open to applicants between the ages of 18 and 30 who demonstrate significant leadership, measurable impact, and proven influence in their community to increasing access to STEM education and technology to underserved groups. Similarly, individuals leveraging technology to tangibly impact their community, country, or world through one of the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals will also be considered for selection.
“We are so excited to work with One Young World and be able to sponsor this opportunity,” said Yolanda Lee Conyers, President of the Lenovo Foundation. “These young scholars and innovators are tackling some of the world’s most serious challenges. Bringing those bright minds together is where real, transformative changes begin to happen for society.”
“Scholarships to attend the One Young World Annual Summit give the world’s biggest and best corporations a unique way to reach the world’s best young leaders in countries and sectors that are beyond their normal scope,” said Kate Robertson, CEO and co-founder of One Young World. “In 2018 40000+ applications were received for 358 places. Those young leaders lucky enough to win a scholarship become part of a global network of their peers, future leaders of governments and businesses, and get to attend one of the best leadership conferences in the world.”
Applications for the scholarship are now open to eligible candidates through May 20, 2019. The scholarship recipient will be chosen later this summer, with a winner to be announced by Lenovo and One Young World on July 1, 2019.
