Amdocs, a provider of software and services to communications and media companies, announced that it will equip Globe Telecom with a network technology solution that will modernize and automate its platforms and business processes efficiently particularly for its enterprise clients. This will enable the Philippine telecommunications giant to provide its enterprise clients with highly-flexible and scalable cloud-based network services that they can easily configure, customize and monitor to better serve end-customers.
Through Amdocs’ Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) orchestration solution, Globe will be able to transform its network to automate operations and management of their Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) offering for a wide range of network services. This includes Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), security services, bandwidth on-demand, mobile core network related services (vEPC and vIMS), and other value-added applications.
Globe Telecom’s NaaS offering uses Software Defined Networking (SDN) and virtualization technologies, as well as a rich Virtual Network Function (VNF) ecosystem orchestrated by Amdocs’ NFV solution. This is also powered by the Linux Foundation’s Open Networking Automation Platform (ONAP).
“The flexibility and scalability of NFV will streamline the way we can interact with our enterprise customers. It will allow us to empower our enterprise customers with simpler and faster on-demand provisioning of network services that they can customize to better serve their end-customers,” said Gil B. Genio, Globe chief technology and information officer.
“Globe Telecom is accelerating their enterprise business growth by addressing their customers’ needs to better serve the digital society of tomorrow,” said Anthony Goonetilleke, group president, media, network and technology, Amdocs. “Over the years we have invested heavily in the Open NFV ecosystem powering initiatives such as ONAP to bring highly scalable network solutions to the market. These proven technology solutions turn static networks into smart networks – opening and automating the network – enabling rich end-to-end services, while continuously evolving to meet the dynamic needs of today’s digital enterprises.”
Under the five-year service agreement, Amdocs’ solution will enable Globe to activate, provision and manage multiple network services on the cloud from a wide range of innovative third-party network software and equipment providers. Amdocs will deliver the capabilities using DevOps methodology, which enables faster evolution and implementation of quick changes to adapt to market demands.
