ICT and digital solutions provider PLDT Enterprise, through its Small and Medium Business Group, PLDT SME Nation, partnered with the Association of Filipino Franchisor’s Inc. (AFFI) to introduce cashless transactions via the PayMaya QR code facility.
Established two decades ago, the AFFI is a non-profit organization that supports the growth of franchise businesses in the country, by providing education, research and development assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises nationwide.
This partnership with AFFI is in line with PLDT SME Nation’s own vision of growing and empowering entrepreneurs in the Philippines through breakthrough technologies tailor-fit for their enterprises. PayMaya benefits AFFI members by opening up another gateway of cashless payment for enterprises, overcoming their technological boundaries with telecommunication and digital solutions.
“With the PayMaya QR code facility, business owners may receive payments for items that cost as little as P20, without having to use any other payment hardware,” said PayMaya COO and managing director Paolo Azzola. “This allows the business to reach a wider range of customers and reduces the risks associated with handling and managing cash.”
The PayMaya QR code facility is also not telco-specific.
“What’s great about the PayMaya facility is that all consumers can avail of this technology. True to our word at the PLDT Group, we want everyone to be connected and to experience safe, secure and convenient seamless payment transactions,” adds Azzola.
Representatives of AFFI and PLDT SME Nation recently sealed the partnership with a contract signing, marking a new stage in the Filipino franchising business.
“AFFI was founded on the belief that every Filipino entrepreneur deserves the opportunity to grow and realize the full potential of their businesses through all means possible—financial, educational, and technological,” said John Chung, AFFI president. “Our partnership with PLDT and the adoption of the PayMaya QR code cashless facility by our members is very important for us and all SMEs in the Philippines as we gear towards more digitally supported and empowered businesses.”
FVP and head of PLDT SME Nation Mitch Locsin underscores the importance of this new partnership. “PLDT has always been an avid supporter of AFFI’s efforts in empowering more Filipino businesses. Through the years, we have worked hand-in-hand with AFFI to support Filipino business owners reach their goals. With our technological solutions, we have sought to help businesses make the most out of every step of the entrepreneurial journey.”
